'Crust & Ember Pizzeria began with a simple aim: to bring true Neapolitan pizza to London. Established by the Smith family in 1985, our pizzeria started as a small, family-run spot with recipes passed down through generations.
Oliver Smith, our founder, learned the art of pizza-making during travels across Italy, studying under master pizzaiolos in Naples—the birthplace of pizza. When she returned to the UK, she was determined to recreate the magic of authentic Italian pizza, using traditional methods and the finest ingredients.
What began as a modest 12-seat pizzeria has grown into a beloved local institution, yet our commitment to quality and authenticity has never wavered. We still rely on wood-fired oven techniques, make our dough fresh daily, and source top-quality ingredients wherever we can find them.
Today, 'Crust & Ember Pizzeria remains a family-owned business, with the second generation of the Smith family now leading our dedicated team. While we’ve embraced some modern improvements, the core of our business stays the same: crafting delicious, genuine pizza that brings people together.
